Conferences and Meetings

KU School of Medicine-Wichita internal medicine residents are expected to participate in regularly scheduled grand rounds presentations, journal club and monthly all resident meetings.

Our residents attend and partake in our weekly grand rounds conferences that utilize and present the most recent evidence to answer relevant clinical questions in a wide variety of current topics. Conferences are generally followed by discussions moderated by one our evidence-based medicine experts. PGY2 and PGY3 are required to compile and present their own grand rounds presentations on a topic of their choosing annually.

Journal Club is designed to provide residents with critical appraisal skills of the medical literature. An intern will be selected to present an article related to relevant clinical research each month.

Senior residents prepare and present a monthly mortality and morbidity conference lecture,  during which residents are involved in analysis of adverse outcomes in patient care through peer review, and within the framework of root-cause analysis, with a primary objective of enhancing residents' education and improve patient care. Sessions are moderated by multidisciplinary experts relevant to the presented case.
